Audits, Reviews, and Compilations

Certified public accountants have a distinctive role in the examination of financial statements which are to be submitted to interested parties. Our philosophy is based on integrity, objectivity, independence and strict adherence to all professional standards, regulations and laws. Generally, financial reporting falls under three categories (right):

Audits, Reviews and Compilations
  • Audit - An audit provides the highest level of assuarnce. An audit is a methodical review and objective examination of the financial statement. Our work includes a review of internal controls, testing of selected transactions and communications with third parties. The primary objective of every audit is to express an opinion on the fair presentation of the financial position and operational results of our clients. Lanigan & Kolb specializes in audits for not-for-profit organizations and small businesses.
  • Review - A review is less extensive than an audit, but more involved than a compilation. We review financial statements by making inquires of management and performing analytical procedures. If the financial statements or supporting documentation appear inconsistant or otherwise questionable, we may need to perform our review report expresses limited assurance that there are no material modifications that should be made to the financial statements in order for them to conform to generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Compilation - We compile financial statements from the client information in accordance with professional standards. A compilation is based upon client information and no opinion is expressed about the underlying financial information.
